Why your Dental Insurance may have Waiting Periods

There are many different ways you can use your dental coverage. Most enjoy getting their teeth cleaned twice a year, as well as getting a filling when needed. In addition, many like having the peace of mind of knowing they’re “covered” if they were to need major work (such as a root canal or oral surgery).

In many cases, private dental insurance will make the policyholder wait 6–12 months until they will pay out on major work. This might not be the case if you’re on a group plan or a marketplace plan, but private dental insurance works a little different.

It can still be a great affordable option if your teeth are in good shape; however maybe not the best option if you need major work right away. Most insurance companies won’t want to pay $1000+ in dental claims in exchange for a $50 monthly premium.

If you have any questions about dental insurance, you should speak with the license insurance professional.
