Tax time is an important time of the year. When it comes to health insurance, it is especially important if your receive a subsidy (tax-credit) from the federal Marketplace.

Keep in mind this is not a substitute for tax advice and this only applies to individual and families receiving an advanced premium tax credit on their health insurance.

So What is a 1095-A form?

It is a tax form, sent from the Marketplace, that provides information about the advanced premium tax credit. This form specifically breaks down how your subsidy was paid throughout the year to lower your monthly premium.

Why is it Important?

This is important for when you file your income tax, reconcile any advance payments from previous years, or to just claim the premium tax credit. Keep in mind, these forms are not generated for marketplace consumers who were enrolled in catastrophic plans or dental only plans.

If you have any questions about taxes, always speak with a tax professional. If you have any questions about health insurance. Always speak with a licensed insurance professional.
